Amy Hunt takes 3rd in Diamond League 200m final with 22.16 seconds

At the Diamond League final in Brussels, British athlete Amy Hunt finished third in the 200m with a time of 22.16 seconds – a season's best. The mark was just 0.08s off her lifetime best, confirming consistent form after winning four gold medals at the European Championships in Birmingham. Julien Alfred (St Lucia) led with 21.79s, followed by Kayla White (USA) with 22.00s. Hunt said she ran the best bend of her career but felt fatigue in the final 20 metres due to a packed schedule. "I'm really proud of that one," Hunt said. "The bend was probably one of the best bends I've ever done, but the last 20m I was a bit tired – that's a sign of a long season." Immediately after the race, Hunt prepared for the 100m the following night, where she will face Olympic silver medallist Sha'Carri Richardson. She is also targeting the inaugural Ultimate Championships in Budapest, where she plans to double in the 100m and 200m. On training, Hunt revealed she does long reps with short recovery (45 seconds in winter), enabling high training density. While no injury concerns are reported, accumulated fatigue is the main risk to monitor. The 22.16s places Hunt in medal contention for major championships, though the gap to Alfred and White remains.
